LOVED this, and I’m old enough to remember the prevalence of cigarette ads. I don’t see anything weird about the Palmolive soap ad though. That’s how they sell soap and face creams right now!

I think you are probably right. They do it more stylishly now, but to me it’s no different in attitude. In current commercials and print ads the woman using the product is usually shown getting extra attention from men and participating in romantic activities. They don’t have to say it explicitly. You see it.
