Another Story About Plastics?

I am sorry to keep plaguing you all with more of the same ole posts. When it turns out no matter what products we use or buy, it seems to be a choice about not really having much choice. We are at the mercy of the manufacturers, and don’t have any say as to how products are made, packaged or sold. Someday we may be able to uninvent some of the things that have both, improved and hurt our lives and environment.

Four America’s And What Is Democracy?

Here is a long winded though really well written article I found. While I am fairly politically quiet, the following, explained a great deal of the conflicting attitudes in our country. Hope you enjoy, and have a nice day.

What are we to do with all of that plastic!

A fellow blogger had this post and I’m sure if we were to work at things, we can overcome the massive piles of plastic waste we keep managing to create.

I’m afraid I don’t know the name of this blogger, but I have found many great scientific articles here. You should check them out.

Lies, And Cover-ups – An American Business Policy

This is a comment I found on a blog out there. It may affect any of us, were we in a profession that requires drug and substance testing. A friend of mine, Michael Langan is a doctor of medicine. As laws are in effect that mandatory licit and illicit substance testing is required, my friend has been framed.

The lab where this testing is done made some mistakes, and to cover up their blunders, have falsified documents. This wasn’t done to Michael to hurt him. It was done to cover their butts, and save the company name.

The lab is just another big business, whose sole purpose is to make money, and if their results were to show inattentive and sloppy work, it may invalidate all of the tests run by said lab. The lab can’t have that, so Michael is supposed to allow an injustice done to him.

Michael has been dealing with this issue since July of 2011, and if these issues aren’t corrected, he will lose his license to practice. As things stand, the lab in question has its integrity and accountability at risk, and we all know business can do no wrong. Please read these statements, and follow the links to judge for yourselves, what this story is about.

There is a petition on one of these links that would help justice be served. Sign the petition and share it on Facebook, twitter, G+, and every other platform you can. Thank you! Some of the legalese is a pain, but this needs your attention. What if this were you?

Thanks, I need all the help I can get. This also impacts nurses. Many states now cover everything from acupuncturists to veterinarians but the ultimate goal is to replace DOT and other EAPs.

The medical profession is just a wedge as PHPs are transitioning from “physician health programs” to “professionals health programs.” They have already entered the airline industry (and they are putting up a lot more resistance than the medical profession ever did) State Medical Societies and the AMA are unfortunately complicit with the “feel-good” fallacies they offer. All they would have to do is look at the evidence base to see it is all trumped-up propaganda and these programs are neither protecting the public nor saving anyone (or any money for that matter).

“Physician Suicide and Physician Health Programs: The Elephant in the Room ( http://disruptedphysician.com/2015/02/25/the-elephant-in-the-room-physician-suicide-and-physician-health-programs/ )

Any and all nurses involved in IPN or ANY monitoring program needs to read up on this. Everything that the physicians are doing, nurses follow in kind. The next layer to come down the pike will be LIFETIME contracts. WAKE UP PEOPLE”

“IPN PRN all these monitoring agencies in all states are corrupt. How many nurses on this forum have gotten screwed. There is NO ONE to appeal. When IPN makes a mistake and believe me THEY DO. who receives the fallout? YES there should be oversite. They can decide anything they want. They can mandate that ice pick lobotomy is the new” treatment” requirement. That is NOT that far out. They performed the procedure in the office in 1967!!!. it takes numbers people to stop this. Call or write the state auditor. Complain about IPN abuse of power and conflict of interests. There needs to be an investigation. It has to stop.”

Below is what they ultimately have planned:

Scientists Want To Mine Your Poop For Gold

When you think about it, humans are just really elaborate filtering machines. All sorts of stuff comes in to be broken down and processed by the body, after which the sh*t comes out. For most people, that’s where their vague interest in the subject ends. Crap is crap; it is universally understood to be worthless.

But that isn’t true at all, according to this Guardian article:

Sewage sludge contains traces of gold, silver and platinum at levels that would be seen as commercially viable by traditional prospectors. “The gold we found was at the level of a minimal mineral deposit,” said Kathleen Smith, of the US Geological Survey.

Smith and her colleagues argue that extracting metals from waste could also help limit the release of harmful metals, such as lead, into the environment in fertilisers and reduce the amount of toxic sewage that has to be buried or burnt.

“If you can get rid of some of the nuisance metals that currently limit how much of these biosolids we can use on fields and forests, and at the same time recover valuable metals and other elements, that’s a win-win,” she said.

A previous study, by Arizona State University, estimated that a city of 1 million inhabitants flushed about $13m (£8.7m) worth of precious metals down toilets and sewer drains each year.

So your butt may soon be the source of a new goldrush as investors jockey for the right to pan through your poop.

Scientists have estimated that an average ton of sewage sludge contains 0.4mg gold, 28mg of silver, 638mg copper and 49mg vanadium, which is used in cell phones so you know it’s hella valuable now. These amounts stayed relatively consistent across different sized cities and locales across the country. No word on if New Jersey poop yields are more potent due to the region’s ridiculous consumption of Goldschläger.

It’s been a great year for fecal sludge in the news – more and more processing plants are filtering out material useful for fertilizing crops. And Bill Gates recently drank the totally delicious output of a device that extracts clean water from human waste – great for water starved hellscapes where that kind of thing is necessary to survive. Or California in 10 years.

Spain: Stop abusing big cats in circuses!

Spain: Stop abusing big cats in circuses!
rusty,A four-month-old lion cub, Magnus, was starved by circus owners to keep him small enough to pose for selfies with visitors. Magnus was kept on a liquid-only diet and nearly died of malnutrition. His esophagus shrunk, making it impossible for him to eat solid foods.

We can help animals like Magnus – sign the Care2 petition urging the Spanish government to stop using big cats in circuses today!

Magnus is now being cared for by a charity, but he will be chronically ill for the rest of his life. Sadly, his situation is not unique. Big cats used in tourist shows are often drugged and abused.

Cubs are usually taken away from their mothers at an early age so they are easier to handle. Their claws and canine teeth are removed so that they can’t harm visitors.

These animals don’t deserve such horrifying cruelty just so people can take selfies. Ringing Bros circus recently announced it would stop abusing elephants in response to pressure from around the world. If enough of us speak out against this awful abuse of lions and tigers, the entertainment industry in Spain may follow suit as well. Tell the Spanish government to ban the use of lions, tigers, and other big cats in circuses!

Thank you,

Cate H.

Nurses and Patients Demand Equal Rights!!!

This is another issue that needs to be brought forward to the public. The treatment of everyone needs to be both fair and just. Those that are treated poorly have the right to say so, in this country. If those at the top of the pyramid don’t like the bad press, they should take more care, to prevent atrocious acts. Punishing those that speak out against unfair treatment, is why we have so many problems in our society. I urge others to help make this known!

Here is more sickness! I am sorry for all of the sickening posts as of late. I am truly disgusted at the audasity of our fellow man. I do understand the need to make money in this day and age, but the extremes humankind takes are sickening.

This article has two parts: The obviously cruel ways people use, to create wealth for themselves, and some of the ways people break the law, to smuggle live animals into other countries.

Despite the fact that the selling of animals as keyring ornaments is a clear-cut case of animal cruelty, it is actually entirely within the law. Chinese law prohibits the sale of wild animals — a designation which evidently does not apply to the Brazil turtles and kingfish being sold.

Keyring ornaments are perhaps the most useless item you’ll ever carry in your pocket or stuff in your purse — but now, thanks to an increasingly popular item being sold in China, it can easily be the cruelest, too. For the price you might expect to pay for some kitschy trinket, Chinese street vendors are selling live animals, permanently sealed in a small plastic pouch where they can survive for a short while as someone’s conversation piece. Apparently, these unimaginably inhumane keyrings are actually quite popular — and worst of all, it’s totally legal.

Potential buyers (read as animal-abusers) have the choice between a living Brazil turtle or two small kingfish, sealed in an airtight package along with some colored water. One vendor claimed that the trapped creatures “can live for months inside there” because the water contains “nutrients,” though veterinarians have already disputed this claim.

When Miami airport inspectors asked a man arriving from Havana, Cuba to raise his pants legs, they were surprised to find 44 birds strapped to his legs. The man had denied he was bringing any wildlife into the United States. He was released the next day on $50,000 bond after being charged with lying on a customs declaration form.

The illegal trade in wildlife is second only to that of drugs in the United States, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). A former FWS chief of law enforcement said, “There is no stigma attached to being an animal smuggler. If you get caught illegally transporting animals on a first offense, it’s possible you won’t even do jail time. You can’t say the same for running drugs.”
